Botanic Tether: Harnessing Location Data for Sustainability Gaming

It all begins with an idea.

The Botanic Tether Project is an innovative augmented reality (AR) initiative that integrates space technology, gamified learning, and environmental conservation. Through immersive experiences, users explore terrestrial ecosystems, learn about biodiversity conservation, and engage in sustainable land management practices.

How It Works

Botanic Tether engages users through multiple interactive components:

  1. Tree Planting Quest 🌱
Players participate in native tree planting activities and receive in-app recognition for their contributions to local biodiversity.

  2. Sustainability Quests 🌍
Gamified challenges educate users on environmental conservation and sustainable land management.

  3. Virtual Tour Guide 🤖
An AI-powered, multilingual assistant helps users explore local ecosystems in an interactive and educational way.

  4. Leave a Treasure 🔍
Players can discover and document unique natural objects, sharing them with the community to unlock knowledge about local flora and fauna.

  5. Quiz and Rewards 🎯
To keep engagement high, players answer sustainability-related questions, earning points and prizes that can be redeemed at local nature centers.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Botanic Tether

Botanic Tether is currently being developed in phases, with exciting milestones ahead:

📅 Game prototyping and user testing – Ongoing
📅 Sustainability quests and AR station setup – Mid 2025
📅 Official app launch and community events – Late 2025

With an ambitious goal to plant and maintain 5,000 native trees annually and help students reduce their carbon footprint by 20%, this project is set to make a significant impact.
